Summer has ended, which means the days are getting shorter, the weather is getting colder, and the traffic is getting much, much lighter. But that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do. To the contrary, in addition to our special events, the library has a host of fun programming that runs all year long.
For the kids we offer story time every Tuesday and Thursday at 10am. They will hear fun stories themed to match the time of year, sing, dance, and make adorable crafts. There is no registration required for this program, so just grab your little ones and come on in!
If you love to read, and we hope you do, we offer 3 clubs that span the full year! Our regular Book Club meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 6pm and features a range of books across nearly every genre. At 6pm on the 3rd Wednesday of the month is our Romance Book Club, where you can meet with friends to read and discuss books ranging from steamy thrillers to historical love stories. Lastly, on the 4th Thursday of each month, again at 6pm, we hold our Mystery Book Club, which features all of the most exciting and intriguing whodunits. These programs do require registration, so feel free to stop by the library to sign up or call 609-967-7155.
We also offer 6 open technology workshops every month, with 3 focusing on Apple devices and 3 focusing on Windows and Android devices. These workshops run for an hour and a half each, and you can pop in at any point while they are running to get help with your devices. Keep an eye on our Events page for dates and times.
If you are just looking to gather with some friends around a common interest, we have a few other programs you might enjoy. On the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 3:30pm, our popular Italian Culture group gets together to discuss the food, history, and people of Italy. For fans of needlework, every Monday at 3:30 pm, our Knitting Club gets together to share techniques and chat with friends.
On the 2nd and 4th Mondays of every month, you can join other vocabularians for a few friendly games of Scrabble. You can also carry your love of words over to our Creative Writing group which meets at 4pm on the 1st Thursday of the month and at 10am on the 3rd Saturday of the month. You can share excerpts from your work and receive tips and feedback from our knowledgeable instructor.
Our friends at the Avalon History Center also host a monthly Tea Time! This fun event occurs at 11am on the 3rd Thursday of the month and features hot tea, light refreshments, and lively conversation about the history of Avalon. In addition, we offer a variety of special events ranging from guest speakers to craft making, so remember to check our Events page regularly to keep up to date!
