Review of The Dead of Summer by Mari Jungstedt

So, you’ve read all of the books in The Millennium series by Stieg Larsson but you still want more fast-paced, Scandinavian crime fiction? Say no more! I have a great read for you that I guarantee you’re going to love: The Dead of Summer, by Mari Jungstedt.

The latest book in the Anders Knutas series is impressively plotted and contains pleasantly flawed characters that you can’t help but root for. On a warm, sunny summer’s day a camper staying on the resort island of Gotska Sandon is killed in a manner that shows both cold calculation and a certain degree of passion. Anders Knutas is on vacation but is called back to investigate. With his CID team working leads as fast as the media can release information to a hungry public, the case seems likely to remain unsolved until the final, thrilling conclusion.

I enjoyed this book immensely, finding the translation from Swedish to English to be smooth and natural-sounding and the writing to be solid and engaging. Add this one to your summer reading list!
