New Discovery Kits at the Avalon Library

We are pleased to announce new additions to our line of Discovery Kits, which are fun and educational kits created in-house for kids, teens and adults. Listed below are the newest; for a full list and to request one, click here.

New Kids’ Discovery Kits:

  • Dominos

20 fun domino games of varying complexity for 2-10 players ages 8 to adult.

  • My Weird School: The Game

Based on the popular children’s books series My Weird School, players create rhyming sentences with cards to score points and beat opponents. For 2-4 players ages 6-10 +family. Helps kids develop reading, math and strategic thinking skills.

  • Awkward Family Photos: The Movie Line Caption Game

Select pictures compiled by the website Awkward Family Photos and add movie quotes as captions in order to win points. For 4-8 players from age 12 to adult.

  • Piano

Learn piano or teach a younger child with two DVDs and two books plus a roll-up electronic keyboard to use for practice. For ages 12 to adult.

New Teen Discovery Kits:

  • Treasure Hunt: Metal Detecting

This kit contains a folding metal detector, a scoop and trowel plus guidebooks to teach folks ages 14 to adult to discover treasures in their environment.

  • Gloom Card Game

Gloom is an Addams Family-esque card game. The goal is for 2 to 4 players to try to kill off their own creepy families but make sure that their opponent’s family flourishes. The first player to have the most unfortunate events befall all of their fictional family members  is the winner.

  • Assassin’s Creed Arena Board Game

Based on the videogame franchise, Assassin’s Creed, the goal of this board game is to assassinate your opponents with action cards while dealing with guards and finding places to hide within the city of Constantinople.

New Grown-Up Discovery Kits:

  • Bridge

Learn and practice bridge with a Bridge for Dummies book, bridge cards, bid box set, cheat sheet, and score book.

  • Murder Mystery Party: a Taste for Wine

Learn a little bit about wine with a descriptive wine book and play a wine-themed murder mystery party game for 6 to 8 players.
