National Wilderness Month Books

Slide_Lake_Bridger_WildernessSeptember is upon us, which means it’s back to school for some, but it also means that we are treated to some of the most beautiful weather of the year! And since September happens to be National Wilderness Month, it’s the perfect time to get out and enjoy nature! Of course, not every day is going to be gorgeous, so for those times when you get stuck inside, we’ve rounded up a collection of Overdrive ebooks that will help you to understand and appreciate the world around us. Enjoy popular nature and adventure stories like Bill Bryson’s A Walk in the Woods, Henry David Thoreau’s Walden, Jon Krakauer’s Into Thin Air, and Jane Goodall’s My Life with the Chimpanzees, along with books that tackle environmental issues like the Deepwater Horizon disaster, global warming, and toxic pesticides. You’ll also see titles that explore ways you can live a more natural life, or learn more about the animals and ecosystems here in our own backyard. And for those who really want to know how everything works, check out Bill Bryson’s A Short History of Nearly Everything and Carlo Rovelli’s Seven Brief Lessons on Physics. It’s a diverse collection, that should have something for just about everyone, so check it out here and start reading!
