Hot Tracks: 5/17/24

It’s time for another roundup of some of the tracks I found the most exciting out of this week’s new releases. With pop, dance, country, rap, jazz, and more, there should be something for everyone here.

Note: Some songs and videos may contain content that listeners / viewers could find objectionable.

Billie Eilish’s new album has dropped today and there isn’t a weak song in the bunch.

I didn’t pay much attention to this team up between Post Malone and Morgan Wallen when it debuted last week, but it’s subsequently grown on me. Don’t be surprised if this song turns out to be inescapable this Summer.

Aussie duo Empire of the Sun continue to charm with their quirky brand of electropop.

Under his alias Childish Gambino, Donald Glover treats us to a retro-influenced hip hop bop that will quickly work its way into your head and have you tapping along.

For the second single from his forthcoming album, Omar Apollo serves up a heartfelt ballad about lost love.

I challenge you not to dance to this mashup of Beyoncé’s “TEXAS HOLD’ EM” and Madonna’s “Holiday” set to a house beat.

Portishead singer Beth Gibbons has also dropped her solo album today, along with third single, the aching ballad “Lost Changes”.

K-pop band Stray Kids team up with American pop singer Charlie Puth for this infectious, Summer-ready groove.

Chicago DJ John Summit teams up with d&b outfit Sub Focus and singer Julia Church for a banger of a tune that shifts genres halfway through.

The newest song from ex-All Saints member Shaznay Lewis exemplifies the over-the-top orchestral sweep of British pop that I can never get enough of.

Shygirl teams up with producer Danny L Harle for this dark techno infused bit of hyper pop.

Pulled from A24’s David Byrne tribue album, Stop Making Sense, Kevin Abstract’s version “Once In a Lifetime” adds a unique twist on the classic tune.

Blending seemingly disparate global elements and techno beats L.A. act A/S/L’s latest is thrillingly unique.

Rapper JasonMartin recruits DJ Quik, Channel Tres, Free Nationals, and George Clinton for this blissfully chilled out jam.

Sasha Alex Sloan embodies sad girl country with her latest ballad, from the just released Me Again.

He may not be the strongest singer, but American indie act Kishi Bashi’s brand of retro rock is easy to fall in love with.

Toronto-based jazz ensemble BADBADNOTGOOD have a new 6-track EP out today, featuring haunting, head-bopping jams like this one.

Are seemingly random electronic bleeps and bloops more your thing? The complex and intriguing latest from JNTHN STEIN should be right up your alley.

Some songs are expertly engineered to lift your spirits, as evidenced by Matisse & Sadko’s team up with Florentin and vocalist Sam Martin, which makes for a perfect closer to this week’s list.
