Bay Atlantic Symphony Performs in Avalon

 

The Avalon Free Public Library hosts the world-renowned Bay Atlantic Symphony each summer in a “Symphony by the Sea” series. For two performances, the symphony features highlighted musicians and classical music for more than 600 guests in the months of July and August.

Returning for its final performance in the summer series, the August concert is titled “Sait-Saens, Tchaikovsky, Bernstein and more!” Set for Saturday, Aug. 19, guests at the Avalon Elementary School will enjoy the symphony with a fun “Nifty 50s” twist this month!

The concert, let by Music Director Jed Gaylin, will begin promptly at 7pm starting with Saint-Saens “Violin Concerto No. 3” featuring Angelo Xiang Yu on the violin. After a brief intermission, the symphony returns with Tchaikovsky’s “Romeo and Juliet” and a medley of Bernstein’s “West Side Story” plus selections from “Grease.”
