Hot Tracks: 6/28/24

Happy Friday! Here’s my weekly guide to the new songs I found the most interesting this week. Hope you find something you enjoy within!

Note: Some songs and videos may contain content that listeners / viewers could find objectionable.

One can never say for certain how any song will actually fare with the general public, but the latest from Coldplay certainly sounds like it could be a hit, and proves that the band likely has at least a couple more in them.

In advance of the Netflix film Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F Lil Nas X has released the first song from the soundtrack, which appropriately makes use of the song “Axel F”, mercifully not sung by an annoying frog this time around.

Released posthumously, this new track by Sophie highlights just how innovative her brand of electronic pop remains.

Bunt brings in vocalist Mapei for his latest stuttery drum & bass creation.

Intriguing dance pop that’s so very 2024.

Mikayla Geier describes her music as “orchestral bops” and I couldn’t agree with that more.

Singer / songwriter Jake Wesley Rogers returns with this lovely and infectious midtempo tune.

Thumping bass and a catchy sample elevate this hip hop track.

Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time” is one of the best songs of the last several decades, and this dance remake by XY&O does it justice while changing the overall feel of the tune.

Country singer Yung Gravy teams up with superstar Shania Twain for this silly but catchy ode to the popular alcoholic seltzer brand.

Republica get surprisingly close to recreating the magic of their 90’s hits “Ready to Go” and “Drop Dead Gorgeous”.

A guaranteed dance floor filler.

warner case’s “not givin up on love” uses classic house and breakbeat elements to create something fresh and new.

Disco never died.

Released a year ago but only now algorithmically recommended to me, this alt-rock tune by Daniel Seavey stands out for its melody and rumbling bass.

Should inspire more than a few dancefloor singalongs.

Eerie but engaging, the latest from electronic producer What So Not sees his sound continue to veer in a more pop direction.

Bicep continues to prove why he is one of the biggest names in the current techno scene.

Prolific film music composer Michael Giacchino has released this charming tropical lounge version of one of his most iconic pieces.

Absolutely lovely.
