Hot Tracks: 8/16/24

Happy Friday! It’s a pretty busy week as far as pop music is concerned, with several big artists releasing new songs. Here’s my guide to those I found the most interesting to help sort through it.

Note: Some songs and videos may contain content that listeners / viewers could find objectionable.

I would be shocked if this duet between Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars isn’t a hit. It’s very likely to pick up a few Grammys too.

Sticking with duets, here’s one that’s a litte more unexpected if no less enjoyable, Post Malone and Dolly Parton.

Benson Boone continues to impress with his brand of catchy pop-rock.

The latest from indie country act CeCe should help propel her to bigger things.

Kacey Musgraves is in full chanteuse mode here and it perfectly compliments the vibes on the latest Vlad Holiday track.

Kylie Minogue adds her own special magic to this catchy, retro-inspired house tune by The Blessed Madonna.

I don’t know that Peggy Gou is ever going to be able to replicate the success of “(It Goes Like) Nanana”, but with it’s sound that recalls 90s dance hits by acts like Crystal Waters, her latest is hard to resist.

The latest tune by it’s murph should have partyers running to the dance floor.

Legendary DJ Don Diablo takes Jamiroquai’s “Deeper Underground” in a fantastically dark and weird direction.

Sometimes you just need some high-energy Eurodance.

Speaking of high-energy, Meghan Trainor incorporates a hyperactive drum beat with her signature retro melodies on her latest.

INJI incorporates melodies from Kevin Rudolf’s “Let It Rock” to great effect on her latest dance track.

Duke Dumont continues to put out future house classics.

Beachcrimes go the pop / d&b route on their latest, with vocalist Tia Tia.

K-pop superstar LISA (of BLACKPINK) teams up with Spain’s Rosalía on this futuristic pop song.

Infectiously odd.

UK rock act Boy Bleach go in a poppier direction on their latest.

An infectious swirl of several genres.

This sultry country ballad by Orville Peck was written for the movie Skincare, which I actually know nothing about, but am now tempted to check out.

Stunning.

Smooth and satisfying.

A lovely ballad from an up-and-coming singer / songwriter.

Another stellar tune from Hozier.

This new version of Sam Smith’s classic “Lay Me Down” with guest vocalist IZA is absolutely gorgeous.
