The Avalon Free Public Library has announced it has been rated a 5-star library by the Library Journal’s Index of Public Library Service. It marks the ninth consecutive time the Avalon Library has achieved the top rating.
Library Director Erin Brown said, “We’re honored to once again be recognized as one of America’s Star Libraries. The Avalon Free Public Library team works tirelessly to create an innovative and dynamic service-oriented organization. This recognition is a testament to their efforts, and the dedication and support provided by the Library Board of Trustees, Borough of Avalon, School district, Friends of the Library, Avalon Historical Society, and our wonderful patrons.”
The library remains one of 260 ranked as a ‘Star Library’ out of 7,349 scored in the United States. Rating criteria is based on circulation, library visits, program attendance and public Internet computer use. The Avalon Library was among four in New Jersey to receive 5 stars, along with the Mercer County Library, the Princeton Public Library and the Bernardsville Public Library.
The Avalon Free Public Library is open year-round and offers an extensive circulation of classics, best-sellers, movies, video games and a wide range of reference information. Patrons are encouraged to “Check It Out” and visit the library online or in person to browse the long list of programs and services offered including Hoopla, OverDrive, Freegal, TumbleBooks and more.
