Landscape architect Scott Taylor, who designed many of Avalon’s public and community spaces, will talk about the planning and construction of Veterans Plaza, the September 11th Memorial, and the 39th street playground/park, as well as the revitalization of the downtown business district. He also will announce a new, exciting recreation initiative coming soon to Avalon!

Mosaic Pin Art Workshop
With art instructor Michele Pascuillo- Create a unique piece of wearable art with bits of tile, glass, beads and other interesting materials. The first day of this two-session class is planning and gluing. The second class is grouting and finishing. Patrons will be able to take finished project home at the end of the 2nd session. Great Decisions Foreign Policy
Conrad Weiler, Associate Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Temple University, will moderate. Sessions are being held for eight weeks through May 3. Great Decisions is America’s largest discussion program on world affairs. The program model involves reading the Great Decisions Briefing Book, watching the DVD and meeting in a Discussion Group to discuss the most critical global issues facing America today. Topics for Great Decisions 2017 include: The Future of Europe: Coping with Crisis, Trade, Jobs and Politics, Conflict in the South China Sea, Saudi Arabia in Transition, U.S. Foreign Policy and Petroleum, Latin America’s Political Pendulum, Prospects for Afghanistan and Pakistan, and Nuclear Security: The Enduring Challenge of Nuclear Weapons.
