Book Review: “Kill Creek” by Scott Thomas

kill creekA horror focused website invites a group of 4 well-known genre authors to spend a night in a famous haunted house and participate in a live-streamed interview. That’s all you really need to know about the plot, as saying anything else could spoil some of the surprises, of which there are a few pretty big ones. This starts out as a pretty typical haunted house story, though a rather good example of one, but does wind up going in some surprising directions. The author does a great job of bringing the characters to life, and makes it really easy to become involved in their fates. The house itself does come off as genuinely creepy, and there are quite a few scary moments to be found here, though as things move along and just what is happening becomes clearer, things for me got a bit less frightening. This is a fun read for lovers of the genre, from an author with a lot of promise, and proves there’s still plenty of life left in old-fashioned ghost stories. ★★★★ – Sean Farrell
