Summer Speakers Begin 7/1 with Megan Miranda

The Avalon Free Public Library strives to present a diverse and exciting lineup of author visits every Summer and this year is no different! We have 7 writers set to visit our town to talk about their latest books starting with Megan Miranda! To make sure you don’t miss out on your favorite author, here is a guide to who you can expect to see this season! Click on the links to borrow their books from the library ahead of their appearances, but books will be available to purchase at the events in most cases too.


MEGAN MIRANDA

Megan Miranda is the New York Times bestselling author of All the Missing Girls, The Last House Guest, Such a Quiet Place; and the instant NYT bestseller Daughter of Mine, among others. She has also written several books for young adults. She grew up in New Jersey, graduated from MIT, and lives in North Carolina with her husband and two children.


JARRETT J. KROSOCZKA

story time takeover, avalon free public library. 7/9 @ 10AM.

Jarrett J. Krosoczka, known since boyhood as “JJK,” is the New York Times bestselling author/illustrator behind more than forty books for young readers, including his wildly popular Lunch Lady graphic novels, select volumes of the Star Warsâ„¢: Jedi Academy series, and Hey, Kiddo, which was a National Book Award Finalist. Krosoczka creates books with humor, heart, and deep respect for his young readers—qualities that have made his titles perennial favorites on the bookshelves of homes, libraries, and bookstores over the past twenty years.


SARA GOODMAN CONFINO

Sara Goodman Confino teaches high school English and journalism in Montgomery County, Maryland, where she lives with her husband, two sons, and miniature schnauzer, Sandy. When she’s not writing or working out, she can be found on the beach or at a Springsteen show, sometimes even dancing on stage. She is the author of Don’t Forget to Write, She’s Up to No Good, and more.


COLLEEN MCKEEGAN, OLIVIA MUENTER, & CAROLA LOVERING

surfside park. 8/17 @ 7pm.

Colleen McKeegan is the author of Rip Tide and The Wild One. She was previously an editor at Marie Claire, where her work was nominated for a National Magazine Award, and her writing has appeared in The Cut, Elle, Glamour, Bustle, and Fortune. A native of Allentown, Pennsylvania, and a graduate of Georgetown University, Colleen lives with her family in Westchester, New York.

Olivia Muenter is a writer, reader, and the co-host of the Bad on Paper podcast. In her free time, you can find her watching bad television or working on her old house in the Hudson Valley where she lives with her husband and dog. She is the author of Such a Bad Influence.

Carola Lovering is the author of Tell Me Lies, Too Good to Be True, Can’t Look Away, and Bye, Baby. She is a graduate of Colorado College, and her work has appeared in Vogue, The Cut, Marie Claire, W Magazine, National Geographic, and Yoga Journal, among other publications. Her novel, Tell Me Lies, has been adapted into a television series for Hulu. She lives in Connecticut with her husband and two young children.


DR. DOUG W. TALLAMY

AVALON COMMUNITY HALL. 8/26 @ 7PM.

Doug Tallamy is a professor in the Department of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Delaware, where he has authored 88 research publications and has taught Insect Taxonomy, Behavioral Ecology, Humans and Nature, Insect Ecology, and other courses for 36 years. Chief among his research goals is to better understand the many ways insects interact with plants and how such interactions determine the diversity of animal communities. His books include Nature’s Best Hope, Bringing Nature Home, and The Nature of Oaks.
