I don’t know when exactly Facebook added the functionality that allows a page to type “@followers” into a post in order to alert everyone who liked the page about it, but it quickly became one of the most annoying things about the site (and that’s saying something). I imagine the intentions behind the idea were good enough, as they probably assumed that pages would only use it to notify people about especially important or noteworthy content, but it quickly started getting used to spam user’s phones with notifications about all sorts of trivial nonsense and obvious advertising. Luckily, it’s pretty simple to turn them off, and we’ve got a guide to show you how you can do it.
ON A COMPUTER:
In your web browser navigate to Facebook and sign in if you aren’t already. Click on your profile picture in the top right of the screen and in the menu that appears click on “Settings & privacy”.

From there select “Settings”.

This opens the “Settings & privacy” page. In the menu on the left select “Notifications”.

Here you can now control which types of content Facebook will notify you about and how you will receive them. To stop this specific type of notification you need to turn off “Batch mentions”. And that’s it! No more notifications on any of your devices about posts marked with the “@followers” tag or any other large group tag.

ON A PHONE OR TABLET:
This can also be done using the Facebook app on your phone or mobile device. To start, open the app and then click on your profile image in the lower right corner of the screen.

Then click on the gear icon near the top right corner.

Now you should be in the “Settings & privacy” section. Scroll down until you see “Notifications” and tap on it.

Now locate the section labelled “Tags” and tap on it.
