It’s been another great year here at the library, filled with equally great books. We’ve already revealed what some of our favorites were, but what were the most popular this year? It’s no real surprise to see perennial favorites like John Grisham, Lisa Scottoline, Elin Hilderbrand, and David Baldacci up near the top of the list. The prevalence of suspense and romance titles suggests it was a year in which escapism was in high demand. Hot thrillers like Behind Her Eyes (a staff favorite) and The Girl Before also made the list, along with critical darlings The Leavers, The Dry, and No One is Coming to Save Us. Danielle Steel, James Patterson, and Clive Cussler make multiple appearances, proving readers are more than happy to snap up their books as fast as they can put them out. Most surprising however would be the relative lack of non-fiction titles this year along with the appearance of horror novel Ararat, a genre that doesn’t typically fly off our shelves.
