The Avalon Free Public Library is thrilled to announce that the Bay Atlantic Symphony will be returning to perform a pair of concerts for us again this Summer! The world-renowned orchestra, under the leadership of Music Director Jed Gaylin, will join us on July 20 and August 17.
The first concert, on Saturday, July 20 is titled “Friendship & Love,” and will feature Edward Elgar’s “Enigma Variations,” Alexander Borodin’s “Nocturne,” and finish with a tribute to the late, great Frank Sinatra. The second show, on Saturday, August 17 will contain Robert Schumann’s “Cello Concerto” featuring guest cellist Christine Lamprea, and Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 3.”
“We are always thrilled to return to Avalon. The Borough and the Library are tremendous partners, and the people of Avalon always make us feel treasured,” says Gaylin. “In addition, I am delighted to feature virtuoso concertmaster Jorge Avila in ‘Nocturne’ and to host the return of Christine Lamprea on the cello.”
Both performances will begin at 7pm in the Avalon Elementary School gymnasium, adjacent to the library; and new for 2019, tickets will not be required to attend.
