The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Warning for our area that lasts until 2pm on Tuesday, March 26. The highest tide levels are expected for the Monday evening and Tuesday morning high tides, at 9:17pm and 9:27am respectively. The NWS is predicting widespread flooding of roadways, with many becoming impassable. If you are located on a part of the island that is prone to flooding, we recommend moving your vehicle to higher ground. Additionally, we caution residents to avoid driving during the times of high tide if possible, but if you must venture out, don’t drive through flooded streets as the water can be deceptively deep.
A Small Craft Advisory is also in effect until Wednesday at 6am, due to strong winds. Inexperienced boaters and those with smaller boats should avoid hitting the water until the weather improves.
