In the very early morning hours on Saturday, September 14 an 18-wheeler was reported traveling in the wrong direction on the Garden State Parkway. The vehicle was heading north in the south bound lanes with Police in pursuit, with vehicles narrowly avoiding collision.
The truck crashed for unknown reasons around mile marker 21 and the driver, who appeared uninjured, was then arrested. Traffic was being diverted by Police as the area of the accident was investigated and cleaned up. There are reports of a similar truck seen speeding through Wildwood and blasting its horn earlier in the evening, but they cannot be verified at this time and it is unclear if there is any relation. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in connection to this event.
EDIT [9/19/24. 9:30am] The New Jersey Turnpike Authority verified that this incident occurred but did not provide any additional information.
