The Boroughs
Probably because it’s executive produced by the Duffer Brothers, Netflix’s new series The Boroughs is being unfairly compared to Stranger Things. Sure, it’s about a group of friends, this time all retirees, being made to face off with supernatural beings and shady conspiracies, but in the episodes that I’ve seen so far, this show seems more interested in the characters and their inner lives than it’s more bombastic forebear. With an excellent cast, compelling mystery, genuinely tense moments, and a strong emotional core, this promises to be one of the year’s standout series. – SF

The Memory Gardener by Meg Donohue
This sweet story has just the right touch of magical realism. After recently losing her mother, Lucy takes a gardening job at an assisted-living facility in her childhood hometown. But Lucy doesn’t just work with plants. She has an uncanny ability to transport garden admirers to a long-forgotten memory by inviting them to smell the flowers. But does this ability help or hurt? And will anything help the residents of this somber home? Fans of uplifting and emotional stories will enjoy the way this tugs on the heartstrings! – Kara Buono

Blue Morpho by Ed O’Brien
The latest solo album from Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien is filled to the brim with lush atmospherics and pleasantly mellow vibes. Guitars, percussion, strings, nature sounds, and soft electronic flourishes all combine to produce a sonic experience that seems tailor made for lounging in the yard on a beautiful day. – SF
