It’s Friday once more, so we’re back with more staff picks! We’ll be taking next week off for Thanksgiving but will be back in December, so we hope you find something here to enjoy these next two weeks!

Wicked: For Good
The first was one of 2024’s best movies but it clearly ended at intermission. That’s left all of us who loved it eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Act II. This promises to be the movie to see this Holiday season so make sure you don’t miss out! – Sean Farrell
Borrow Wicked part one from the Library to caught up!

Nash Falls by David Baldacci
David Baldacci’s Nash Falls starts off feeling a bit different from his usual style, but once it finds its groove, it delivers all the fast-paced tension and clever twists you’d expect. Before long, I was pulled in—and rooting hard for Walter Nash, because Baldacci knows how to give us a hero worth cheering on.
If you’re new to David Baldacci, Nash Falls is definitely worth a read. But if there’s a wait list and you’re looking for an alternative, do yourself a favor and dive into the Amos Decker Memory Man series. I think it’s one of his very best. – Erin Brown

Festive Friday & Snowfest Saturday
Summer may be long gone, but Avalon comes back to life this weekend every year. Featuring family friendly activities, performances, and more plus discounts at your favorite shops, it’s a perfect reason to visit our town every Fall! – SF

The Celebrity Traitors UK
This reality competition program is possibly my favorite of the type, with both the US and UK versions having me fully addicted (the Australian edition is no slouch either). That being said, across the pond they’ve avoided packing the cast with “celebrities” up until now, while here in America most or all of the contestants each season have previously appeared on other reality shows. It’s still entertaining, but it’s more fun seeing “normal” people have a go at the game in my opinion. Inevitably though, England has followed suit and produced a Celebrity version, and while it still steers pretty clear of what anyone would consider the “A list”, even a Yank like me knows who many of these people are, and I fully expect them to be a blast to watch. – SF

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
Sure, there are other parades on Thanksgiving, but none can quite match the level of cheesy spectacle that Macy’s and New York City pull off every year with this one. From the sneak peeks at Broadway shows all the way through to Santa’s arrival, it’s a Holiday tradition to cherish. – SF

A Man on the Inside
Netflix’s delightful, Michael Schur-produced and Ted Danson-starring comedy series returns for another season, this time relocating the action from a retirement home to a university. If it’s anything like Season 1, expect 8 more episodes that perfectly blend cozy mystery and comic absurdity with the occasional deep revelation. – SF

Cup a Joe Weather & Drone 24/7 Live Stream
The official weather forecaster for the Borough of Avalon, Joe Martucci has launched a 24-hour weather stream on his YouTube channel. Featuring a mix of local forecasts and interesting meteorological content, it’s a great way to keep abreast of what to expect throughout the day. – SF

Retirement Plan
The New Yorker continues to be the source of some of the best content on YouTube and this animated short by John Kelly affirms that. Witty and moving, it’s one of the best cartoons of the year. David Sedaris sums up what’s great about it better than I ever could at the link to the magazine’s site below. – SF
