Not too long ago if we wanted to make a call, listen to music, take a picture, read a book, play a game, or take a quick memo while going about our day, we had to carry a separate item or device with us for each of those things. But now the smartphone has allowed us to condense all of that, and then some, into one handy little machine. So why wouldn’t you use it to eliminate the need to carry a shopping list with you to the store?
This isn’t a new idea of course, as there are several apps that can do this, but my personal favorite would have to be “Bring!” It utilizes a clean, modern interface to make assembling and reading your list as simple as possible. When you first sign up (creating an account is free) it will ask you to create a list. You can name it whatever you’d like, and you can have different lists for different stores. When you are looking at a list, you will see a search box at the top labelled, “What would you like to buy?” Start typing in the item you need here, like “milk” or “orange juice”, and as you type you will notice it suggesting items below. When you see the one you want, tap it, and it’s in the list! You can also browse through categories for suggestions, and add terms that aren’t in the database.
As you add items to your cart at the store, you can just tap on the corresponding entry in your list to remove it. Additional features include compatibility with smart watches, meaning you don’t even have to take out your phone to view what you need, and the ability to invite other users to see and edit the list, making it easy for everyone in your household to add items they want or remove anything they stop and pick up. It’s a great way to keep yourself organized and to ensure that you never forget to pick anything up when you visit the store!
