A fire was reported just before 9pm on Wednesday, May 22nd at the Icona resort here in Avalon. Reports say that smoke was visible in the building when the alarms went off. Units were dispatched from both the Avalon Volunteer Fire Department and the Stone Harbor Volunteer Fire Company. Upon arrival it was determined that the fire had begun in the facility’s laundry room, and it was extinguished within approximately 30 minutes. We will provide any additional updates if they are made available to us.
Edit 5/23/24: Luckily, no one was reported injured in the incident, and it caused no significant damage to the property.
