Fire on 32nd Street

Just before 1:00 AM on the morning on April 12, a fire was called in at 128 32nd Street in Avalon. Stations 10 (Sea Isle City), 11 (Avalon), 13 (Stone Harbor), 17 (Ocean View), 70 (Cape May Court House), 71 (Swainton), and 72 (Rio Grande) all responded with rehab setup at the nearby Avalon Post Office. The house was reportedly unoccupied at the time and we have not received any reports of injuries though some localized power outages were caused by the blaze. The fire itself was reportedly under control at about 1:50 AM, though a smell of smoke lingered around the site through the morning hours. The cause is still under investigation at this time, though there are reports that the home was still under construction. It appears to be a total loss, with heat related damage to the siding of neighboring homes. We will update this article as more information becomes available.

UPDATED AT 11:11AM with information from the Avalon Borough Facebook page.

  1. Thanks for the update. Last fire of this type that I heard of was due to plumbing weld that soldered.
    Stay safe all. Dotty
