Welcome back to the Weekly Wow List! October is here which means many (though not all) of this week’s staff picks are suited for Spooky Season! We hope you enjoy what we’ve dug up for you!

Halloween Bakeware
Looking to level up your Halloween treats? The library has Nordic Ware’s baking pans ready to check out, and they’re a total win. The spooky shapes — skulls, tombstones, and more — come out with amazing detail, and the heavy-duty pans bake evenly every time.
A few tips: make sure you use the provided baking spray so your cakes pop right out, don’t overfill, and remember they’re hand-wash only. These pans are perfect for cakes, brownies, chocolates, or even Jello — a fun way to bring some spooky to your October baking! Need some inspiration? Here’s a link to a video from Nordic Ware with 8 great ideas for their Skull Cakelet pan. – Erin Brown

Misericordia
It’s one of my favorite movies of the year and it’s finally available to borrow on disc at the library. From my original review in March:
A striking meditation on repressed desires, guilt, the merits of punishment versus forgiveness, and who should be allowed to decide which is proffered; this is the sort of film that makes the viewer want to find someone to discuss the little details with as soon as it ends. Elegantly strange, thought-provoking, and haunting, Misericordia is a genuine masterwork of a movie.
I can’t wait to watch it again, and if you haven’t seen it for a first time yet, I highly recommend it. – Sean Farrell

Rogue Words
Made by a single developer, this addictive game puts a rogue-like twist on Scrabble and the result is hard to put down. Daily challenges only add to the pull. – SF

V/H/S/Halloween
The long-running, found footage anthology series returns with another installment that promises to be one of the best yet. Featuring egments by a diverse assortment of talented filmmakers, such as Paco Plaza (the horror masterpiece [•REC], Veronica), Casper Kelly (Mandy, Too Many Cooks), Alex Ross Perry (Her Smell), and more the franchise continues to host both talented genre auteurs as well as up-and-coming talent and seems to be on a real hot streak of late. It’s a tradition I hope doesn’t end any time soon. – SF

Peacemaker
Season 2 of James Gunn’s DC Universe HBO Max series Peacemaker has surpassed the infectiously offbeat charm of the first season in every way and seems to be heading towards a truly exciting finale. The penultimate episode is out now and if you want to avoid spoilers, you’ll want to get caught up with this crude and clever series ASAP. – SF
PS. Season 1 is available from the library:
