We were off last week, but we’re back with some fantastic new movies, a returning comedy series, and a great new album for you to enjoy!

One Battle After Another
Paul Thomas Anderson, the director of modern classics like Boogie Nights, Magnolia, There Will Be Blood, and Phantom Thread returns with a darkly comic action epic that is already being hailed as one of the best movies of the year and a front-runner for the Best Picture Oscar. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Chase Infiniti, and Alana Haim, and based on Thomas Pynchon’s Vineland the story follows a group of ex-revolutionaries who have to reunite to take on an enemy who has resurfaced after 16 years. This is perhaps the movie I’ve been the most excited for this year and I can’t wait to see it on the biggest possible screen. – Sean Farrell

Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale
If you’ve been missing the Crawleys (and all the drama that comes with them), you’re in luck—the new Downton Abbey movie is in theaters! Expect plenty of glamour, family intrigue, and some fresh twists at the estate. It’s like catching up with old friends.
Need a refresher before you head to the movies? We’ve got the full series and the other Downton Abbey movies on DVD here at the library. Perfect for a cozy binge! – Erin Brown

Here for it All by Mariah Carey
Mariah is back with an album that isn’t chasing trends and instead feels like she is just relaxed and enjoying herself. There isn’t a dud to be found in these 11 songs that run from pop r&b, to gospel, to disco and funk, and if there was ever a song that was screaming for a piano-tinged, 90s-style David Morales club remix it’s the uplifting ballad “Nothing Is Impossible”. This is 40 minutes of vintage Mariah. – SF

Last Breath
No big Hollywood BS, just a gripping true story, well acted & told. Brilliant. A breath of fresh air (excuse the pun) amongst all of the ridiculousness that is currently popular. – Bonita Risley

The English Teacher
Last year’s funniest show is back for a second season featuring our favorite foul-mouthed educators. The job may be harder than ever, and the kids are most-decidedly not alright, but at least we can all still laugh about it. – SF
