Heather by Caitlin Mullen
I was first introduced to Caitlin Mullen following her debut, Please See Us, when the library hosted her virtually the summer of 2020. (If you haven’t read it – also recommend!) Her second book, Heather, is a page turning mystery set in the Pine Barrens. Told through multiple perspectives, readers will find themselves traveling back and forth through generations attempting to untangle a series of long buried secrets. It is dark, but fans of Liz Moore and Tana French are likely to enjoy the style and pace, and appreciate the unique atmosphere that the Pine Barrens lends to the story. – Erin Brown
Resident Evil
While Paul W.S. Anderson’s Resident Evil movies aren’t without their own cheesy charm, I can’t wait to see what Zach Cregger can do with the I.P. Already responsible for two of the most memorable and unpredictable horror films in recent memory, Barbarian and Weapons, he’s quickly built a reputation for himself. Early buzz suggests his third film should continue his hot streak and that, while it doesn’t hew too closely to the video game series’ story, it does effectively capture the vibe of playing it, and other recent adaptations have shown that’s far more important for their success than faithfulness to the source material. – Sean Farrell
The Traitors: New Blood
Finally the US version of The Traitors is giving us a season filled with “ordinary” Americans rather than preening reality TV stars. The basic formula remains as entertaining as ever, with this remaining the one competition show that looks genuinely fun to participate in, but since the cast isn’t as acclimated to the ins and outs of being recorded, their reactions and gameplay are a bit more unpredictable. That said, I’d literally watch this no matter who was in it. – SF
Dave the Diver
With the pixel-style artwork, this game seems like it wouldn’t have much depth, but just like the ocean you get to explore, this game is surprisingly robust, and continues to add new mechanics and mini-games right until the end. You play as Dave as he fishes and explores the ocean during the day, and runs a thriving (and ridiculous) sushi bar at night. With tons of collectibles, mini-games, and unique storylines this is quite the addicting challenge! – Kara Buono
Where Have All the Good Men Gone? by Debbii Dawson
This EP packs a punch. Across 6 impeccably crafted pop songs, this America’s Got Talent alum displays a knack for a catchy hook. She uses her voice expertly on these tunes that call to mind classic bands like ABBA and Queen. The whole thing may only last 20 minutes, but you’ll want to repeat it over and over and over… – SF
