The Avalon Recreation Department has announced that this year’s “Trunk or Treat” event will take place on Saturday, October 26 from 5 to 7pm in the 30th Street Parking Lot next to Avalon Community Hall. During this event children are invited to put on their favorite costumes and walk from car to car, where participants will be handing out candy and other treats from their trunks. If you want to join in the fun, get your car to the lot no later than 4:45pm, but be aware that you will not be able to leave until 7pm. And of course, you are more than welcome to put some spooky decorations on your trunk! The event will also feature a DJ, costume parade, special guest characters, and hayrides on the beach, plus prizes will be awarded for the best dressed trunks. For more information head to avalonrecreation.org.
Then, on Thursday, October 31 from 5 to 8pm, 7 Mile Island’s “Trick or Treat” will take place. Once again the Stone Harbor Recreation Department will be releasing a map of houses participating and will also be distributing wooden pumpkins that homes with candy or other treats can display, marking them as part of the route. If you want to give out goodies this year, make sure to sign up here no later than Thursday, October 24th. The wooden pumpkins will be distributed by the 31st and the map will be posted at stoneharborrecreation.com on the 28th.
